Halloween 2024 at the Cattolica Aquarium

Halloween of the depths among sharks, moray eels and giant insects. Here the monster is the polluter.

From 31 October to 3 November the Cattolica Aquarium is filled with fantastic presences and reveals the occult side of our planet, the submerged one. Bizarre creatures such as Zombie Jellyfish, Ghost Fish, Gigacrabs and Pumpkin Snacks welcome you to the Blue Entrance, right next to the Humboldt Penguins. From there you enter, crossing a gigantic shark mouth , into the world of the depths and encounter bull sharks, slow and silent, giant moray eels, shiny fish and bizarre starfish, eels and fluorescent jellyfish. The Green entrance is home to reptiles, among the most ancient inhabitants of the Earth: enormous snakes and basilisks, cockroaches and poisonous frogs. Who knows if snakes really speak Parseltongue ? This is revealed by the Extraordinary Encounters , guided tours with a limited number of places that the public can book.
At the Yellow Entrance the immobile caimans dominate the waters and the Asian otters with small claws move like elves, at ease both on land and in the water.
Anyone who thinks that insects are too small to be scary should absolutely see "Giant Insects XXL Edition" : the Purple entrance with over 70 life-size reproductions of insects, including a three-metre high mantis, huge wasp and fly heads , magnified up to 200 times!

During the Halloween period, the Aquarium offers numerous special events, including:

Scary feeding : penguin, otter, stingray and bull shark feedings take place in front of the public
Extraordinary Encounters : limited guided tours to be booked upon arrival, to discover what lies behind the scenes and among the secrets of the reptile house
Horror face painting : from 31 October to 3 November a magical face painting awaits all the little ones for a thrilling make-up. The ticket includes the entire visit to the Blue, Yellow, Green and Purple routes.
